Daily Schedule

Day 1 – Basic Principles and Setting Up a Track Design

On the first day of the course, you’ll be introduced to the Bentley OpenRail Designer work environment and the model-based design philosophy for rail infrastructure. You’ll learn how rail projects are structured and how terrain models form the basis for a rail design. You’ll then get started by importing existing data, setting up track alignments, and designing vertical profiles. You’ll also be introduced to the key features for track geometry and lay the foundation for an intelligent 3D track design.

Day 2 – Smart Rail Corridors and Design Documentation

On the second day, you’ll continue developing the track design by setting up intelligent track corridors and refining the model. You’ll learn how changes are automatically incorporated into the entire design and how to optimize the model. You will then generate longitudinal profiles, cross-sections, quantities, and design drawings from the 3D model. By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge to independently create, manage, and document a complete BIM-based track design using OpenRail Designer.
