Spatial planning involves making choices about the design and development of our living environment. In this course, youβll learn how functions such as housing, work, mobility, nature, water, energy, and infrastructure compete with one another for available space and how these interests are balanced against one another. Youβll be introduced to spatial planning at the local, regional, national, and European levels and will use QGIS to view, combine, and interpret spatial maps and open data. The Dutch Environment Act will be discussed as a current practical example within a broader European context.
