Ronald Baan

My name is Ronald Baan. After many years working as a consultant, I realized that while I frequently took on new roles in data management, I often saw significant setbacks by the end of my projects. The core issue was that organizations had not built enough internal knowledge. I also noticed that while I could create momentum in certain parts of the organization, other areas struggled to follow suit.

This led me to the conclusion that I could better support organizations by teaching them to handle things themselves. In addition to hands-on work, this approach involves continuous learning and fostering communication across departments, business units, and various levels within the organization. In my experience, this is the most effective way for an organization to mature in terms of data management.

That same year, I became the Chairman of DAMA Netherlands, where I now help professionals collaborate to deepen and modernize our collective knowledge of all aspects of data management.

Through my own company, I offer various DAMA CDMP-certified data management courses. At Geo-ICT Training Center in the Netherlands, I teach courses that also focus on geo-information.

I also conduct data management workshops for various municipalities. These workshops cover key topics, including the basic registrations of BAG (Basic Registration of Addresses and Buildings), BGT (Basic Registration of Large-scale Topography), WOZ (Valuation of Immovable Property), and SOR (Systematic Object Registration).
