Geo-ICT Training Center was founded in 2009 in response to a growing concern within the surveying industry: a significant shortage of new professionals entering vocational, higher professional, and university-level geodesy programs. While initiatives like GoGeo sparked discussion, real action was still lacking.
As part of our ongoing mission to empower geospatial professionals worldwide, Geo-ICT Training Center is proud to join forces with QWAST-GIS, a globally respected consultancy and training provider specializing in open source GIS software.
Founded and led by Hans van der Kwast, QWAST-GIS brings over two decades of experience in geospatial education, remote sensing, and open source advocacy. As a certified QGIS trainer, board member of the Dutch QGIS User Group, and co-author of QGIS for Hydrological Applications, Hans has helped thousands of learners and professionals build robust, open workflows using tools like QGIS, Mergin Maps, PCRaster and Python.
This partnership strengthens our shared commitment to:
- Accessible learning through free and open source software (FOSS)
- Global reach with training tailored to diverse regional and professional contexts
- Community engagement via platforms like GIS OpenCourseWare and the QGIS ecosystem
- Sustainable innovation that avoids vendor lock-in and fosters long-term capacity building
Together, Geo-ICT and QWAST-GIS offer a unique blend of academic rigor, practical expertise, and open source values. This ensures that learners not only gain technical skills but also become part of a vibrant, collaborative global community.
Whether you’re just starting your geospatial journey or seeking advanced training in open source tools, our partnership opens new pathways for learning, impact, and professional growth.
