CloudSigma Basics

Total study time: 24 hours

Want to create a cloud environment that works exactly the way you need it to for geospatial data analysis? In this fully online, one-on-one course, you'll learn how to take full control of your cloud resources using CloudSigma — from storage to processing power. With personal guidance and hands-on online modules, you’ll gain the skills to work independently in a professional cloud environment and apply what you learn directly to your geo-ICT projects.

CloudSigma

CloudSigma is a flexible and powerful cloud platform designed for people who want full control over their digital workspace. Unlike many other cloud providers, it lets you configure your CPU, RAM, storage, and network resources separately. You’re not stuck with preset server sizes, making it ideal for custom setups.

This flexibility is especially useful for working with geospatial data — like earth observation or processing large datasets. Need more power? You can easily scale up without losing performance or speed.

Another big plus: you have complete control over your setup. Use any x86-based operating system you like — Linux, BSD, Windows — with full root access. CloudSigma also offers transparent pricing. Choose between subscriptions or a pay-as-you-go model so you’re always in control of your costs.

If you work with complex datasets or analyze geospatial information regularly, CloudSigma gives you a reliable, flexible, and efficient solution that fits perfectly into your geo-ICT workflow.

What will you learn in this blended learning course?

In this blended learning course, you’ll explore how to use CloudSigma specifically for geo-information and geodata analysis. The training follows the Rotation Model, meaning you switch between self-paced online learning and guided sessions at set times. This mix of structure and flexibility makes the learning experience both effective and manageable.

You’ll start with the basics: what cloud computing is and how CloudSigma works. You’ll learn how to configure CPU, RAM, storage, and network resources separately to build a cloud environment tailored to your needs. This is especially useful when working with heavy geospatial datasets, like those used in earth observation or remote sensing.

Next, you’ll move on to installing and managing operating systems. CloudSigma supports any x86-based system, so you’ll get hands-on experience with Linux, Windows, and more — including how to use ISO files and manage your system with full root access.

You’ll also learn how to track your resource usage and understand how the pay-as-you-go pricing model works. This helps you not only use your cloud efficiently, but also keep costs under control.

Finally, you’ll put everything into practice with real-world case studies based on actual geo-ICT challenges. These exercises are designed to help you connect what you’ve learned with the kind of problems you’re likely to face in the field — all at your own pace, and with expert support along the way.

Why choose this CloudSigma course?

Blended learning gives you the best of both worlds—live interaction and flexible self-paced study—so you can build real, job-ready cloud skills. In this course, you’ll get hands-on with CloudSigma and learn how to process and analyze geospatial data in the cloud.

We kick things off with a live session where you’ll dive straight into cloud-based geospatial workflows. Guided by experienced professionals, you’ll begin setting up and managing real cloud environments tailored to geo-ICT projects. You’ll learn how to allocate CPU, RAM, storage, and networking resources efficiently, and how to monitor performance in real-time scenarios.

Next, our self-paced modules let you deepen your understanding of cloud infrastructure at your own pace. You’ll explore system configuration, resource optimization, and environment scaling, with interactive lessons designed specifically for geospatial applications. You’ll learn how to tailor your cloud setup to match the demands of real-world data processing tasks.

Then, in a second live session, you’ll apply your new knowledge to real geospatial datasets and cloud-based challenges. You’ll practice configuring and managing cloud environments with full root access, troubleshooting performance issues, and building smart, scalable, cost-effective solutions that fit your specific project needs.

A highlight of the course is a real-world case project that simulates a complete geo-ICT workflow in the cloud. You’ll design and run your own cloud-based environment from scratch—just like you would on the job.

By combining expert-led sessions with flexible online learning, this course prepares you to go beyond theory and deliver results. By the end, you’ll be able to confidently use CloudSigma to power your own cloud-based geospatial projects.
