Geo-ICT Training Center, Netherlands - DAMA DMBOK

In today’s data-driven economy, knowing how to manage, organize, and protect information is more important than ever. The volume and complexity of data that organizations handle each day continues to grow. As a result, it becomes harder to maintain quality, ensure security, and extract meaningful insights. That’s where data management comes in. It’s the discipline that defines how data is collected, stored, shared, and used across an organization — supporting better decisions, faster responses, and stronger outcomes.

When done right, data management becomes the backbone of everything from innovation and customer experience to compliance and strategic planning. At the heart of this field is the DAMA DMBOK2 framework — a global standard outlining key principles and best practices for managing data as a strategic asset. It covers areas such as data governance, architecture, modeling, integration, quality, and security.

As more organizations move to cloud platforms, adopt automation, and expand into AI and big data, professionals need more than just technical tools. In fact, they need the ability to manage data securely, ethically, and efficiently. This course provides that foundation, equipping you with the skills and confidence to apply best practices and prepare for CDMP certification.

What will you learn

This course guides you through all the essential knowledge areas of the DAMA DMBOK2 framework. It combines practical application with a strong theoretical foundation. You’ll learn how to apply the framework to real-world scenarios, design and evaluate data architecture, and implement effective practices for governance, security, and compliance.

In addition, you’ll gain hands-on experience managing data integration, improving data quality, and using metadata effectively. These lessons are rooted in real-world examples — particularly from geo-information environments — so you’ll see how structured data management works in spatial systems as well. By the end, you’ll understand how structured data supports everything from analytics and business intelligence to document control and master data management. Naturally, you’ll also be well-prepared to pass the CDMP exam with confidence.
